Windows 10 PCs Having Factory Reset Issues Running on Version 2004: How to Resolve it?

Windows 10 latest updates(May 2020 and October 2020) runs on the same core file system but the issue exists in May 2020(version 20024) update.

Windows 10 allows users to reset their PC to the factory settings by using the ‘Reset this PC’. The option basically used when a system facing performance or drivers issue, memory issue or the system has not been used for a long time. However, the May 2020(version 2004) update throwing an error when resetting a PC. Microsoft says that there is a problem with a certain hardware configuration that causes failure in resetting a PC.

While resetting the windows 10 PC running version 2004 (May 2020) the error showing “There was a problem while resetting your PC. NO changes were made”.Microsoft recommends users to use the Deployment Image Servicing and Management (DISM) Tool with command prompt to reset windows 10 PCs.

The DISM tool allows Windows 10 Administrators to prepare, modify and repair common system problems.

Here is the procedure to factory reset your PC using DISM Tool.

  1. Open Start Menu
  2. Search for Command Prompt
  3. Right-click on the top result and click Run as Administrator
  4. Type dism/online/cleanup-image/restorehealth in the command prompt window after C:\WINDOWS\system32>
  5. Restart your PC

After completing the above steps user can able to restore their PC to the factory default settings.
